US Preclearance
Shannon is the first airport in the world, outside of the Americas, to offer Full US Preclearance facilities to passengers travelling to the USA.
This new upgraded service allows US bound passengers to undertake all immigration, customs and agriculture inspections at Shannon prior to departure, making your arrival in the US easier and faster.
- Your baggage is checked through to your final
destination, without the need for pick up/drop off.
- Arriving as a domestic passenger allows for a faster
process though the airport.
- Shorter connecting times mean you can reach your final destination earlier.
Reporting Times to US Preclearance
Passengers must clear all formalities a minimum of 45
minutes before the scheduled departure time of your flight. Please allow
adequate time for this process as failure to report on time may affect your ability
to travel.
Permitted Food Items
There are restrictions on food items that can be brought in to the US. For full details see www.cbp.gov In order to avoid delays we suggest that all food items be carried in hand luggage, declared and presented for inspection at the US Preclearance facility.
Electronic system for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) for travel to the US
Passengers who plan to travel to the US are required under the Visa Waiver Programme to apply for travel authorisation online prior to travel . The new electronic system for travel authorisation (ESTA) can be completed at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov
Passengers will require an approved ESTA prior to boarding. An approved ESTA is valid for up to two years and multiple entries, but is not a guarantee of admissibility.
