Overall Passenger Traffic

In 2009, almost 2.8 million passengers passed through the airport, a decline of 12% on the previous year. 

Terminal traffic, i.e. passengers who began or ended their journey at Shannon,  was down 14% on 2008 to 2.4 million.

Passenger Traffic Breakdown

Transatlantic traffic declined by 23% to 442,000 passengers as carriers reduced capacity due to the economic downturn. 

European traffic declined by 13% to almost 900,000 passengers.  UK traffic was down by 7% to almost 1.1 million.
