Shannon Welcomes Announcement Of New Route To Lodz
Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (27th Oct) announced a new route from Shannon to Lodz (pronounced Wudge) in Poland that will operate twice weekly from 4th December next. This brings to 27 the number of low fare routes operated by Ryanair from Shannon.
Announcing the new route, Peter Sherrard, Ryanair’s Head of Communications said:
“Ryanair now links Shannon with three Polish destinations, and this new route will be good news for both business links in the mid-west and the considerable Polish community in the Shannon region.”
Commenting on the new Ryanair route, Martin Moroney, Airport Director Shannon said:
“With today’s announcement by Ryanair, Shannon Airport has established itself as the gateway of choice in the Ireland-Poland air transport market. Gdansk, Krakow, Lodz, Warsaw and Wroclaw are all accessible on scheduled flights from Shannon and I’m delighted that we are facilitating the connectivity that plays an important part in Ireland’s economic success.
“The ongoing addition of new routes at Shannon, particularly by the Ryanair base, will ensure that passenger traffic will continue to exceed recent record levels. For the first nine months of the year overall traffic throughput reached 2.8 million- a 13% increase over 2005. The 3 million passenger benchmark, first achieved at the end of November 2005, was reached in the third week of October this year, illustrating the buoyancy of Shannon’s traffic as we approach the end of 2006”.
Seats on this new route are available from just €2.99 on www.ryanair.com.
