Ryanair Adds More Routes from Shannon
Shannon Airport today welcomed the announcement by Ryanair that they are to further expand their range of services from its Shannon base this winter by operating to Bournemouth and Edinburgh in the UK.
In welcoming the new routes Martin Moroney, Airport Director said, “We are delighted that Ryanair is enhancing the range of services at its Shannon base. We have targeted Edinburgh for some time as a route with great potential, both inbound and outbound, and now both major Scottish cities will be accessible from Shannon. The Bournemouth service will open up the South coast of England to Shannon passengers as well as providing a new gateway for West of Ireland tourism interests.” He added: “These additional routes will help to sustain Shannon’s strong traffic performance seen in the first six months of the year. Terminal passenger numbers have increased to 1.35 million- an increase of 287,000 over the same period in 2005, with U.K. provincial traffic up by 60%, or 72,000 passengers.”
This latest announcement brings to twenty-five the number of airports served by Ryanair from Shannon.
