Ryanair Announces New Route to Berlin
and Reintroduces Tenerife
Service For Summer
Increased Frequency on Malaga Route
100,000 SEATS FROM €10*
Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (Wednesday, 19th March 2008) launched a new route from its Shannon base to Berlin, to commence on 30th May. Ryanair’s winter service to Tenerife is set to be reintroduced for the summer from 1st June, while an extra frequency will be added to the popular Malaga route, offering the guaranteed lowest fares to the Costa Del Sol capital four times a week from 29th May.
Ryanair will carry 2 million passengers on its Shannon routes this year, almost two thirds of Shannon’s annual traffic, which will sustain 2,000 jobs in the mid-west.
Speaking today, Ryanair’s Caroline Baldwin said:
“This new connection to Germany’s exciting capital city is a great enhancement of our route network at Shannon. An ideal destination for both business and leisure breaks, Berlin has something for everyone.
“Ryanair will deliver over two million passengers through Shannon this year, generating a visitor spend of €350m in the mid-west. Our recently increased London departures and our continued expansion to Europe are fundamental to the success of tourism in the Shannon region.
“To celebrate this new route, Ryanair is releasing 100,000 seats from Shannon from just €10 including taxes and charges and we advise passengers to log onto www.ryanair.com immediately, as fares this low will be snapped up quickly”.
Welcoming the announcement, Shannon Airport Director, Martin Moroney
said:
“Ryanair’s continued commitment to its Shannon base is very
encouraging. We believe that the Berlin service will generate interest from
Irish visitors to Germany’s revitalised capital, as well as providing a valuable
link from a traditionally strong tourism market for the West of Ireland ”
To accommodate this new route and frequency increases Ryanair will close its routes from Shannon to Kaunus and Riga from 25th and 27th May respectively.
* €10 fare includes airport taxes & charges. Subject to availability.
Ends.
