ACI Best Airport Award
Shannon International Airport has been chosen by Airports Council International (ACI) Europe as the Best Airport in Europe for the 1 – 5 million passenger category.
These awards were instituted in 2005 for the best airports in 5 categories from under 1 million passengers to over 25 million passengers. The judging panel was drawn from a group of airport industry experts representing the European Disability Forum, PricewaterhouseCoopers, SH&E, Singapore Changi Airport and Airport Business.
Airports were judged on excellence and achievement in the areas of Operations, Facilities, Customer Service, Security, Retail and Community Relationships.
The judges stated that Shannon Airport “continues to impress with it’s can-do spirit in constantly looking for improvements in its retail offerings, facilities and passenger / airline facilitation”.
Shannon is the first Irish airport to receive an ACI Best Airport Award and it adds to our two consecutive Best Irish Airport Awards from Chambers Ireland.
Airport Director, Mr. Martin Moroney expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to all airport staff for their efforts that contributed greatly to Shannon winning this ACI award.
