Aer Lingus Regional (operated by Aer Arann) Launches 4 routes
Shannon Airport is delighted to welcome the announcement that Aer Lingus Regional (operated by Aer Arann) will begin operating 4 new services to regional UK destinations from 1st July 2010. The new services will operate to Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Bristol.
In welcoming the news Airport Director, Martin Moroney said “we are delighted to welcome Aer Arann to Shannon. These new services will provide essential UK regional connectivity to Shannon some of which was lost earlier this year. The establishment of sustainable air-services is our key priority and we believe that through the Aer Arann / Aer Lingus partnership we now have an ideal solution for developing our route network over the coming years.
“This announcement is also a significant opportunity for the tourism sector in the region. These services will provide regular low cost access from the UK regions to the West of Ireland and will provide a much needed opportunity for this sector. We look forward to working with the airlines and the tourism sector in exploiting these new opportunities”.
Brian O’Connell, Chairman of the Shannon Airport Authority said that the key to Aer Aran’s success to-date has been its ability to deliver a sustainable connectivity to communities, particularly in the West, and by so doing, playing a key role in business networking and local economic development. Today’s happy announcement of the new routes from Shannon to Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Glasgow, said Mr O’Connell, offer tremendous potential to our regional business here and to the development of business in those four key regional cities, and all our combined efforts must now be focussed on developing the economic potential of those new links.
Aer Arann’s four new routes to the UK and Scotland offer an ideal hub solution for travellers to pre-clear here, and transfer hassle-free on arrival in the US. This great facility offers Aer Lingus, its partner Aer Arann, and all of the business community in and around Shannon, yet another opportunity to develop a brand new access market to and from the US.
