American Airlines Increases Chicago Service for Summer 07
Shannon Airport today welcomed the announcement by American Airlines that they are to introduce a non-stop Shannon - Chicago service for summer 2007 starting on 1st May. American’s existing Shannon – Chicago service is currently operated in conjunction with the airline’s Dublin-Chicago flight.
In welcoming the news Martin Moroney Airport Director said, “ this is great news to finish another record breaking year at Shannon on. Chicago’s O’Hare Airport is home to American Airlines largest international hub which offers passengers the opportunity to connect to over 500 daily flights to other destinations in the US, Caribbean and Latin America”.
Mr. Moroney added, “ I am confident that having a daily direct service to Chicago will greatly enhance the travel opportunities for business and leisure travelers to and from Shannon Airport. This service is a vote of confidence in Shannon’s transatlantic market recognising it’s potential to deliver significant passenger numbers to the American Airlines network. We thank American Airlines for taking this decision to develop additional services at Shannon and assure them of our continuing support in the year ahead”.
American will fly the Shannon – Chicago service with a 188-seat Boeing757 aircraft. The flight will depart Shannon every morning at 10.15hrs arriving in Chicago at 12.15 hrs and will them return from Chicago at 18.50 hrs arriving in Shannon the following morning at 08.00hrs.
